Communication has always been something crucial needed in our human civilization, for without proper communication there may be a lot of misunderstandings, especially if there is a huge time lag in communication, there needed to be communication in real time, so it was so. However communication technology is at its peak in todays world, there still seems to be problems in communication, the original message we recieve is usually filtered by peoples judgements and opinions - political biased, etc.
FOUNDATION OF THE INTERNET~
How the Internet came to the scene~
It first started with its foundation, the need for two or more people to communicate with eachother through long distances in real time.
What started it all and started pushing the progression? The telegraph invented in 1856, this device allowed communication using what is called "morse code". This type of communication involves dots spaces and longer progressive dots. The method of morsecode is not limiProxy-Connection: keep-alive

d to a telegraph, it can also be extended to using lights to convey messages such as off and on, differentiated by time. An example of a morse code can be the well known "SOS" - this consists of 3 short dots, 3 long dots, then 3 short dots.
Decades later, a new wave of communication appears. Scientist, inventor, engineer, and also a professor at boston university, Alexander Graham Bell was credited as inventing the first practical telephone which rippled new waves of inspiration and planting the seeds for new innovations to come.
Several decades later, in 1957 the USSR launches what is known as "sputnik" - the first earth orbiting artificial satellite. During these tough times in the cold war, there would be states called "satellite states" where an indipendent country is heavily influenced and/or controlled by another country, during these times lots of Europe was in a "Soviet Satellite State". A satellite state can also be termed as a "puppet state" or "neo colony", which simply means that they are under heavy influence of another country, served as a "buffer" between an enemy country and the nation exerting control over the satelleite.

All the innovations that happened in the cold war contributed in the development of the internet as a new way of communication. In the case of a nuclear attack, ARPANet at the time was sough to be used for computers to send messages to one another.
In 1962-1968, something termed s packet switching was developed, this would serve as a step towards the development of the internet as it is today, the benefits of Packet Switching is that data is split into tiny packets and may take different routes to a destination. The benefits of this, especially during these times of the cold war is that it is that the data is shieleded even in the case of nuclear attacks.
In 1969, ARPANET, Advanced Research Project Agency comes to the scene, it was the worlds first Packet Switching Network and core network that came to compose the global internet. What it was is a "testbed" for new networking tech linking universities and research centers. It was created by Massechutes institute of technology (MIT) and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). ARPANETS Packet Switching Design was developed by a man named Lawrence Roberts who was a chief scientist at ARPANET. Vinton Cerf along with Robert Khan was also part of the design team and came up with a protocal called TCP/IP

In 1971, a revolution in communication yet again appears, Electronic Mail or EMail allowed people to send messages through a distributed network.
In 1991, the first friendly interface for the internet was developed at the University of Minnesota, i was called "Gopher",
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide.
Today, the internet is strong and growing. It is one of the most efficient, reliable, and fastest communication medium ever and it is continually evolving to newer depths.
200 years ago, the idea that we could communicate with people all throughout the world in real time would of been considered crazy, but today we have made it our reality.
Below is a project started by Barret Lyon called the "Opte Project" which shows a visual map of the internet, heres a picture below:
The World Wide Web which is abbreviated as WWW and commonley know as the web which is a system of interlinked hypertexts (which are computer text with hyperlinks leading to more references) accessed via the internet with a web browser, Tim-Burners Lee developed this, the browser was called World Wide Web.
Here is an example of hyperlinks:
The internet is a medium which has helped bring us together and is an endless library of information.
Today, people wouldn't get anywhere wit a car, in the same way people wouldn't get anywhere without a search engine.
